Black tiger prawns from Swiss company Fredag obtain FoS sustainable farming certification

Fredag’s prawns come from sustainable aquaculture in South East Asia. The farms were audited by an international certification body and were found to be compliant with Friend of the Sea strict sustainability requirements. The prawns are farmed with no use of antibiotics. The farming sites were found to be managing their potential environmental impacts properly, preventing impact on surrounding ecosystem, managing water parameters, waste and energy appropriately.

Mr. Fabio Piccione, Head of Trading at Fredag, comments: “Achieving Friend of the Sea certification is of primary importance to us, since the Swiss market is today more and more conscious of what environmental sustainability and social responsibility really mean”. Friend of the Sea label represents an important added value which highlights the efforts companies undergo to provide sustainable resources for both grocers and end-consumers.
