Friend of the Sea has become the leading certification standard for sustainable seafood products and services which respect and protect the marine environment.
Friend of the Sea works globally with the nation states, seafood and shipping industries, scientists, NGOs and the public and their certification awards sustainable practices in order to maintain the integrity of sustainable seafood. These certification schemes encompass both aquaculture (fish farm) certification to include key farmed fish species eligible for certification and fisheries to promote the sustainable use of the ocean and aquatic habitat and prevent overfishing and the use of fishmeal and Omega 3 Fish Oil.
Friend of the Sea also promotes pilot projects related to restaurants, sustainable shipping, whale and dolphin-watching, aquaria, ornamental fish, UV creams and others.
