Meet the Friend of the Sea’s team and discover who is behind the organisation.
When faced with the challenge of feeding a growing global population, a sustainable approach is critical.
The United Nations 2020 Sustainable Development Goals address the urgency of conserving marine resources and using them sustainably and Friend of the Sea’s mission reflects these goals.
Friend of the Sea has become the leading certification standard for products and services which respect and protect the marine environment. Our sustainable seafood certification schemes and our sustainable aquaculture certification schemes award sustainable practices in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Fishmeal and Omega 3 Fish Oil.
Certification of fisheries and aquaculture products is a process that requires a clear verification that producers are following best practices in order to deliver farmed fish and seafood in a safe, responsible and sustainable manner.
Our dedicated team work together in order to ensure that feeding the world’s growing population is approached in a sustainable manner. We offer the combined knowledge and experience of a wide ranging group of experts that work in close collaboration in order to ensure that our standards match the following key requirements; food safety, environmental responsibility, social accountability and animal health and welfare.
We also together have developed appropriate and up to date fisheries and aquaculture certification requirements and guidance.
In addition, in line with Friend of the Sea’s mission to conserve the marine environment, our team work together on different marine conservation projects, developing in collaboration with international scientific experts and organisations, projects and campaigns to protect endangered species.
