FRESH Corporation achieves Friend of the Sea certification for sustainable aquaculture
The FRESH urban fish farm located in Völkingen, Germany has achieved the Friend of the Sea sustainable aquaculture certification for Gilthead seabream, Yellowtail kingfish and European seabass.
The company’s farm includes four large saltwater fish pools with their own closed-loop biological purification systems and is capable of producing around 500 tons of fish annually.
In order to comply with the highest quality standards, FRESH uses certified organic, antioxidant-free and GMO-free fish feed.
In addition, the short transport routes to customers help save energy and reduce the carbon footprint.
“Friend of the Sea certification is perfectly in line with our values,” says Peter Zeller, CEO of FRESH “Providing our consumers with premium-quality and sustainable products is our main goal.”
