Be a Friend of the Sea, not only on World Oceans Day
If you feel like offering your support to protect the oceans, here is something you can do easily, not only on World Oceans Day, but each day of the year. Check for Friend of the Sea certified products and services: they are certified environmentally and socially sustainable, after an independent onsite audit.
Friend of the Sea was founded in 2008 on the wave of the success of the Dolphin Safe Project, which saved millions of dolphins otherwise decimated by unsustainable tuna fishing practices.
The main mission of Friend of the Sea is to protect the marine habitat by means of certification of products from sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. More than 500 companies in 50 countries have certified their products, with an important reduction of the impact on ocean resources.
Over the last years, Friend of the Sea has also developed other sustainability standards for shipping and trade of ornamental species.
When choosing Friend of the Sea products and services you will also be supporting many international environmental projects managed by the organization, such as the campaign to prevent whales ship strikes and conservation of sharks, corals and albatross.
