LIFE™ Nutrition Group, Inc. – a dietary supplements company based in New York – has been found to be compliant with Friend of the Sea standards and can now display the Friend of the Sea eco-label on its Omega3 supplements products.
The fish oil at the base of the Deep Sea Fish Oil product line is sourced from sardines and mackerels fished in the Eastern Central Atlantic Ocean (FAO Area 34) only by approved Friend of the Sea suppliers. The purse seine fleets operate with selective fishing methods and source from non-overexploited stocks. The discard rate is zero, and by-catch is minimal.
A chain of custody is in place and effective, from the fishery to the processing of the finished product. This guarantees that no mixing between approved and non-approved sources occurs. LIFE™ Nutrition is one of the first companies to use eco-friendly aluminum packaging to help minimize the impact on the environment by reducing CO2 emissions by over 95% compared to plastic bottles.
“The Friend of the Sea certification is very important to LIFE™ Nutrition because it acknowledges our commitment to sustainable fishing practices and our sense of responsibility concerning natural resources”, explains Bryant Shu, the president of LIFE™ Nutrition. “Our customers are this way assured that our Omega-3 supplements are from fully sustainable origins.”
