The Arborio Classico is a historical variety known for its excellent culinary properties that takes its name from the homonymous village located north of Vercelli. The large size of the grain and its central and extended pearl count it among the best risotto rices, guaranteeing an excellent buttering and absorption capacity of the condiments, enhancing its taste and flavor. It also lends itself well to appetizers, salads, timballi, side dishes and soups. In the Cascina Oschiena, located in the Municipality of Crova, a few kilometers from Vercelli, rice has been grown since the sixteenth century when the Benedictine moncs settled there. Today, the company’s commitment is aimed, in the sign of tradition, to maintain the properties of the cereal intact and qualitatively high. Added to this is the desire to pursue sustainable agriculture by adhering to the agro-environmental measures of the Piedmont Region and by participating in the European Natura 2000-Life ‘Eco-Rice’ project. The territory of the farm is in fact included in the ecological network Special Protection Zone “Risaie Vercellesi”. It is my goal to safeguard the environment and landscape and to recreate natural habitats for native animal and plant species.
