Leading Chilean producer of seafood and fish-based products earns new certifications from worldwide authority on protection of the marine environment.
Friend of the Sea (FOS), the leading global authority and certification standard for products and services that respect and protect the marine environment, has recertified Chile’s Corpesca SA in multiple categories of sustainability. Corpesca, considered the main fishing company in Chile,can continue to display the Friend of the Sea eco-label on its products.

Santiago-based Corpesca is a consolidated global producer of fishmeal and fish oil from marine sources. The company has made environmental sustainability one of the key pillars of its business strategy. They apply sustainable practices to the production of a wide range of fish-related products.
The 1400-employee company has numerous subsidiaries and extensive international operations. One indication of the scope of the company’s activities is its level of investment. In 2018, Corpesca invested $13.5 million (US) into its fishing fleet and $10.7million into industrial plants. Originally named Consorcio Pesquero del NorteSA, Corpepsca was formed in 1999 from the merger of the fishing and industrial assets of the Fishing Company Eperva SA, Pesquera Iquique-Guanaye SA and Sociedad Pesquera Coloso SA. These were the primary fishing companies operated in the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá and Antofagasta.
