Bioguto Becomes Lithuania’s First Friend of the Sea® Certified Omega-3 Brand.

MB Pilnas šaukštas becomes the first Lithuanian company to achieve Friend of the Sea certification for an omega-3 product, reinforcing its commitment to responsible sourcing and traceability

Friend of the Sea®, the international certification programme of the World Sustainability Organization (WSO), is pleased to announce that Lithuanian company MB Pilnas šaukštas has obtained certification for its Bioguto Omega-3 Premium product line. The certification covers Bioguto Omega-3 Premium Natural and Bioguto Omega-3 Premium Lemon, two liquid food supplements made with fish oil and olive oil, and recognises the brand’s commitment to responsible sourcing and traceability.

Based on World Sustainability Organization records, MB Pilnas šaukštas is the first and currently the only Lithuanian company to have obtained Friend of the Sea certification for an omega-3 product.

Founded by sisters Vaiva and Milda, Bioguto has developed from a family project into a Lithuanian food-supplement brand built on quality, transparency and carefully selected ingredients. Vaiva contributes pharmaceutical and scientific expertise, while Milda leads the brand’s creative and communication activities. Their shared aim is to develop supplements they would confidently choose for their own families.

“While creating Bioguto Omega-3 Premium, we wanted it to be not only a high-quality omega-3 product, but also a choice we could be proud of – one based on carefully selected raw materials, transparency and responsibility,” said Dr Vaiva Bražinskienė, Head of MB Pilnas šaukštas and co-founder of Bioguto. “For us, the origin of the fish oil, its traceability and the independent verification of sustainability are essential parts of product development. Friend of the Sea certification helps us provide consumers with clearer, reliable assurance that these values are reflected in the product they choose.”

Friend of the Sea certification independently verifies sustainable omega-3 oils and supplements against requirements covering responsible raw-material origin, traceability, sustainable fish stocks, selective fishing methods, waste management, energy efficiency and social accountability across processing activities.

The Bioguto Omega-3 Premium products use natural, non-concentrated fish oil from wild sardines, anchovies and mackerel, retaining omega-3 fatty acids in their natural triglyceride form. The fish oil used in the range meets Friend of the Sea requirements, providing independent assurance on the marine raw materials behind the certified products.

For MB Pilnas šaukštas, the certification adds an independent layer of verification to its supplier and raw-material controls. The company says customers increasingly ask which certifications support its products, making credible third-party verification an important way to show that responsible sourcing is backed by evidence rather than simply an environmental claim.

“Bioguto shows how a growing family-created brand can embed sustainability into its business approach from the outset,” said Paolo Bray, Founder and Director of Friend of the Sea. “We are pleased to welcome the first Lithuanian company certified by Friend of the Sea for omega-3 products. This achievement gives consumers greater confidence in responsible sourcing and can inspire other companies in the region to follow the same path.”

The certification complements Bioguto’s broader efforts to reduce its environmental footprint. The company says it assesses the quality and production methods of its raw materials and, where possible, prefers organic, wild-sourced, or pesticide-free ingredients. It uses glass bottles, prioritises recyclable packaging, works to reduce unnecessary plastic and relies on paper and cardboard for shipping materials. Bioguto Omega-3 Premium is packaged in amber glass, with a label incorporating recycled polyethene.
