Australian Mori Seafood obtains Friend of the Sea certification for Southern Bluefin Tuna

Mori Seafood

Mori Seafood – Australian seafood company based in Port Lincoln, South Australia – has recently obtained Friend of the Sea certification for Southern Bluefin Tuna. The company complies with all Friend of the Sea requirements and can now display the official seal of approval on its products.

Founded in 1989, Mori Seafood is a family business that specializes in processing, distribution and exporting of premium fresh, frozen, and live seafood.

Mori Seafood receives freshly harvested Southern Bluefin Tuna from Friend of the Sea accredited companies that are members of Australian Southern Bluefin Tuna Industry Association (ASBTIA). Therefore, traceability is ensured from harvesting through all processes to the final product.

Southern Bluefin Tuna has been found compliant with Friend of the Sea strict criteria of sustainability, including no relevant impact on the ecosystem, no bycaught species from the IUCN Red list of endangered species, gradual reduction of carbon footprint, waste management and social accountability.

“We are very proud to have achieved Friend of the Sea certification, as we share the same sustainability values,” says Claire Moriarty, Marketing Manager at Mori Seafood. “Our company has always been committed to the protection of the marine environment and thanks to Friend of the Sea we have a further confirmation of our environmental involvement.”
