‘Perluga Caviar’ and ‘Caviar Caviale’ from farmed sturgeon confirmed FoS

Perluga CaviarCaviale Srl – Italian company controlled by VENATUS S.r.l – has positively undergone the renewal audit for Friend of the Sea certification. Under the brands ‘Perluga Caviar’ and ‘Caviar Caviale’, Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii), Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri), Adriatic sturgeon (Acipenser naccarii) and Beluga sturgeon (Huso huso) can keep on displaying the Friend of the Sea seal of approval.

Caviar is produced in one of the world’s largest sturgeon aquaculture farms which cover 10 hectares, set in the heart of the Lombardy region. The sturgeon has been farmed since 2006 following certified sustainable practices.

Farms reproduce the natural conditions found in sturgeons’ native breeding grounds. The facilities are lined with a layer of river stone pebbles. The typical seasonal fluctuations in temperature and natural light conditions ensure that the sturgeons have a gradual and healthy growth.

“We are particularly fond of the Friend of the Sea certification, as it independently confirms our full engagement to sustainability at international level”, states Mr. Carlo Dalla Rosa of Caviale Srl.
