Norwegian Orkla Health confirmed FoS for Cod liver oil

Norwegian Orkla Health confirmed Friend of the Sea for Cod liver oil

Orkla Health

Orkla Health – Norwegian health-supplement company based in Oslo – has successfully concluded its renewal audit. Cod liver oil sourced from approved wild Arctic cod can continue to display the official seal of approval.

Established in 1854, Orkla Health is the leading supplier of food supplements in the Nordic region, including Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Cod liver oil is sourced from fresh livers of Arctic Norwegian cod fish, caught in the Northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean by Friend of the Sea approved fleets. All fleets operate in areas where cod stock is not overfished and are monitored by Norwegian authorities and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). Bycatch is also very low and does not include any IUCN red list species.

“Orkla Health has introduced sustainable and responsible fishing policies since the beginning,” says Jeanette Solhaug, Group Marketing Director. “We are very proud to have received the confirmation of our commitment towards the environment. This way our international customers are assured that our supplements have sustainable origin.”
