The sustainability standards fund and oversee programs to help save primates, whales, butterflies and more and seek sustainable companies’ proactive support.

Friend of the Sea and Friend of the Earth, divisions of the World Sustainability Organization, have expanded their support for a wide range of conservation projects and campaigns around the world. Friend of the Sea, which is the leading global certification standard for products and services that respect and protect the marine environment, is sponsoring efforts to save turtles, sturgeons, sharks, whales, albatross and more. Friend of the Earth, which has a comparable certification standard in agriculture, is working to save frogs, butterflies, snails, lemurs and rhinos, among many species it is seeking to protect.

“Human activity has an impact on the total global environment,” said Paolo Bray, Director of Friend of the Sea. “We are affecting the habitats and food chains of many different species, even ones we do not raise or consume for food. To mitigate the potentially disastrous impact of these activities, we are investing resources in proactively protecting a variety of endangered species.”

Friend of the Sea and Friend of the Earth are each overseeing a portfolio of 20 conservation projects. Friend of the Sea projects include “Save the Albatross,” “Save the Penguins,” “Save the Corals,” “FishWelfare,” “Save the Sharks” and more. Friend of the Earth is funding and managing programs such as “Save Parrots”, “Save the Primates,” “Save the Giraffes” and “Save the Bats.”

The World Sustainability Organization pleas sustainable companies worldwide to support its conservation projects and campaigns, by means of donation or collaboration.“It is fundamental that the industry starts to proactively support conservation initiatives.” explains Paolo Bray “producing products in a sustainable way is only a first step towards a full involvement of companies to preserve our beautiful planet. Proactive conservation allows companies to give back to the planet”
