OmeGo and ProGo, respectively Hofseth BioCare Fish Oil and Fish Protein from salmon’s trimmings, are now carrying Friend of the Sea seal of approval.
The Norwegian company was found to meet Friend of the Sea fish feeds and oils certification requirements. Hofseth BioCare produces fish oil and fish protein sourced exclusively from trimmings of salmon processing plants. By making best use of offcuts Hofset BioCare is optimizing the use of valuable marine resources, otherwise wasted.
All the production is carried out in the Midsund plant where trimmings arrive in plastic boxes, all signed and numbered. Fresh offcuts that would otherwise be wasted are supplied to the factory several times a day and immediately processed.
GMO products are used neither by Hofseth BioCare nor by the identified salmon suppliers.
The Company has a specific tracking procedure which guarantees the tracking and tracing of each trimming’s batch.
The waste management system in place includes a filtering system treating the waste waters; controls occur three times every year and are regulated by the government.
“We’re very happy to have obtained Friend of the Sea certification to prove the sustainable origin of our products” explains Sjur Jenssen, CEO of Hofseth BioCare.

Hofseth BioCare
HBC is founded on the core value of sustainability and optimal use of natural resources. Through innovative production technology and logistics, HBC is able to preserve the quality of protein, calcium and oil extracted from fish. Products that previously could only be used as animal feed can now be made suitable for human consumption and pharmaceuticals. HBC is thus contributing to efficient use of marine resources and entering the higher profit market of quality ingredients for human applications.
