Peruvian Pesquera Hayduk confirmed Friend of the Sea for anchovies

Hayduck

Pesquera Hayduk – Peruvian fishing company located in Lima, Peru – has recently concluded the Friend of the Sea audit renewal for fishmeal and fish oil products originating from healthy stocks of Peruvian anchovy. The company complies with all Friend of the Sea requirements and can continue to display the official seal of approval on its products.

The company’s fleet catches anchovies in the Southeast Pacific Ocean by means of purse seine method and in compliance with the Marine Protected Areas regulation. Bycatch is minimal and does not include any IUCN red list species.

Furthermore, Pesquera Hayduk has actively invested in cleaner technologies, such as the installation of washing towers that attenuate the effects of gas emissions and the transition to natural gas and LPG.

“Along with quality, sustainability is the main priority for Pesquera Hayduk,” says Kief Benites, Technical Manager at Pesquera Hayduk. “We are very proud to have achieved the Friend of the Sea certification renewal, which reinforces our environmental efforts.”
