Goerlich Pharma Recertified by FoS for Sustainable Production of Seafood-Based Products

Goerlich Pharma Recertified

German contract manufacturer of supplements commits to marine environmental responsibility.

Friend of the Sea, the preeminent certification standard for products and services that respect and protect the marine environment, announced today that it has recertified Goerlich Pharma for sustainable practices. Goerlich is a contract manufacturer of supplements and other products that contain seafood-based ingredients.  With this certification, Goerlich can display the Friend of the Sea eco-label on its products.

“It’s been an honor and a pleasure to work with Goerlich Pharma for so many years,” said Paolo Bray, Director of Friend of the Sea. “Their attention to sustainability highlights the need to inform consumers about marine life that shows up in nutritional products. When it says that a product contains fish oil, people don’t always realize that at some point in the manufacturing process, there was an actual fish involved. Their certification is educational in this regard.”

Goerlich, which was founded in 1984, is based in Edling, Germany. They produce a wide range of food supplement for its customers. These include hard and soft capsules, tablets, chewable capsules, sticks and oil mixtures. The 126-person company also performs coating and filming. Goerlich Pharma is the exclusive distributor of the Norwegian premium manufacturer Epax® for marine Omega-3 concentrates in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Further, since 2015 Goerlich Pharma has also been marketing exclusively for the company BioPlus Algal oil 40 % and DHA powder 10 % and 17 % in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Products with “Epax®, Algal oil 40 % and DHA powder 10 % and 17 % inside” – as for instance soft capsules and chewable capsules, hard capsules as well as flavoured oil mixtures – are distributed globally by Goerlich Pharma. Goerlich has been certified by FOS since 2013.
