Bio-Life SPRL Omega3 products from Peruvian anchovies and chub mackerel obtain FoS certification

Bio-Life SPRL, a Belgian producer of functional foods, has obtained Friend of the Sea certification for its product, Omega 3 Magnum 1400.

Bio-Life distributes Omega 3 gelatine capsules by using fish oil obtained from small pelagic fished in the Southeast Pacific Ocean. The anchovies’ stock in the fishing area is not overexploited according to the national marine institute. The fishery is managed sustainably, following a strict precautionary approach, and highly selective gears are used. Bio-Life is also fully compliant with Friend of the Sea social accountability requirements.

“Sustainability is a fundamental part of Bio-Life’s mission.” explain Mr. Thysebaert and Mrs Lennertz of Bio-Life. “The growing international Omega-3 market expects companies to commit to sustainable sourcing of raw materials.”

“We are glad that Bio-Life joined our certification program: our common aim is marine habitat conservation”, adds Paolo Bray, Director of Friend of the Sea.
