A German Friend of the Sea Day will be held at the Hilton in Koln on the 9th of October 2009, at 14:00, just before the main Anuga show.
The program of the conference includes a full introduction and update on Friend of the Sea and its achievements.
Some certified producers from Germany and other Countries will introduce their case studies describing their sustainability policies.
– Clean Seas, supplying certified farmed kingfish and mulloway from Southern Australia to retail chains in Europe, will describe its sustainable aquaculture practices and breakthrough technology for propagation of Southern Bluefin Tuna.
– Noordzee Vissers, a Dutch fishery for Dover Sole using horizontal set nets, will describe its lower impact fishing method and the growing interest in the Dutch market for Friend of the Sea certified products.
Norway Prawns, producers of Pandalus borealis, are going to introduce their fishery’s initiatives to protect cold water corals and reduce any potential bycatch.
– The German IFFT (International Fish Farming Technology) will introduce its innovative Closed Recirculating Mariculture System.
– Manor, a main Swiss retail chain, sources exclusively Friend of the Sea certified seafood.
Other speakers and participants are expected, among certified producers, processing companies and retail chains. The conference will be followed by one to one meetings between certified producers and potential customers. The meeting is an important opportunity to get in touch first hand with the fastest growing sustainable seafood certification scheme.
