Il loro movimento goffo e impacciato sulla terraferma contrasta con la meravigliosa agilit\u00e0 nel nuoto, durante il quale compiono veloci e spettacolari evoluzioni. Anche le loro capacit\u00e0 fisiologiche sono sorprendenti. Ad esempio, si \u00e8 scoperto che durante le immersioni il loro battito cardiaco pu\u00f2 rallentare da 120 a meno di 10 battiti al minuto, consentendo loro di trattenere il respiro per lunghi periodi. Questi animali non sono solo creature affascinanti, ma rivestono un ruolo fondamentale nell\u2019equilibrio degli ecosistemi marini.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Purtroppo, le foche stanno affrontando gravi minacce. La pesca industriale causa ogni anno la morte di innumerevoli foche intrappolate nelle reti da pesca, mentre la riduzione dei ghiacci e l&#8217;espansione umana lungo le coste stanno privando questi animali del loro habitat naturale.
