The two organizations commit to collaborate actively mitigating aquaculture potential impacts on the environment in the Italian territory and promoting sustainable aquaculture procedures in Italy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The agreement had been signed in the presence of <b>Giuseppe Castiglione<\/b>, the State of Ministry Undersecretary of Agricultural, Food and Forest Policies (see picture above).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Friend of the Sea will develop guidelines and it will provide technical support including training courses to promote sustainable aquaculture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">API received Friend of the Sea 2017 Award, in recognition of API\u2019s commitment to the promotion of sustainable aquaculture in Italy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cFriend of the Sea is by far the main sustainable aquaculture certification in Italy, with over 50 approved sites, and one of the major ones worldwide\u201d explains Paolo Bray, Founder and Director of Friend of the Sea. \u201cWe are responsible for motivating farmers improve their practices and make consumers aware of the positive return on the environment generated by aquaculture when compared with other ways of producing animal proteins. It aims to protect, develop and consolidate all activities related to fish-breeding both in fresh and in salt and brackish waters.&nbsp;Consequently, it promotes any financial, scientific, technical, insurance, professional, union and legal interventions which may prove necessary to reach this target.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.api-online.it\/\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">www.api-online.it<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><a href=\"mailto:info@api-online.it\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">info@api-online.it<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Friend of the Sea<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Friend of the Sea is an international certification program for products from sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. Over 600 companies in more than 60 countries have relied on Friend of the Sea to assess the sustainable origin of their seafood. Audits, based on the best and the most updated available scientific data, are run by accredited independent certification bodies. Recently the program has expanded to the certification of sustainable shipping, ornamental fish and whale watching operators.<br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.friendofthesea.org\/\"><span
