Milan\/Brussels: Friend of the Sea \u2013 FOS \u2013 and GLOBALG.A.P. announce a collaboration that offers consumer labelling for more than two million tonnes of aquaculture products.<\/p>\n

GLOBALG.A.P. certified aquaculture farms will only need to be assessed against a few additional sustainability criteria to become eligible to use the international consumer sustainability FOS label for aquaculture. This recognition reduces duplication of farm audits considerably. In return, FOS certified farms are able to add the GLOBALG.A.P. audit with the next annual re-certification audit.<\/p>\n

Consumers will be able to recognize seafood products covered by the collaboration as they carry the FOS label and the claim: \u201cResponsibly farmed\u201d with a GLOBALG.A.P. farm number: \u201cGGN 1234567891092\u201d.<\/p>\n

Friend of the Sea and GLOBALG.A.P. will be participating in the Seafood Expo Global 2014, in Brussels. A News Conference, scheduled on 7th May, will highlight their partnership. About GLOBALG.A.P.<\/strong>
\nGLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Standards have been operational for over 10 years as part of a global food certification system for agricultural products. Its standards cover food safety, environmental, social, and animal welfare requirements for feed, hatchery, and farming operations. It operates as a business to business program with a consumer facing traceability code.
