{"id":143316,"date":"2022-12-02T09:28:48","date_gmt":"2022-12-02T08:28:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/friend-of-the-sea-and-galapagos-conservation-trust-join-forces-for-the-galapagos-albatross\/"},"modified":"2022-12-02T09:38:09","modified_gmt":"2022-12-02T08:38:09","slug":"galapagos-conservation-trust-for-the-galapagos-albatross","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/it\/galapagos-conservation-trust-for-the-galapagos-albatross\/","title":{"rendered":"Friend of the Sea e Galapagos Conservation Trust insieme per l\u2019albatross delle Galapagos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><i>Grazie al supporto dato alla Fondazione inglese, Friend of the Sea consentir\u00e0 di portare a termine il progetto per la classificazione della plastica raccolta dalle spiagge dell\u2019arcipelago, tra le principali minacce per la sopravvivenza degli albatross.<\/i> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Si arricchisce la lista di progetti di conservazione che vedono impegnato\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"Friend of the Sea\u00ae.\" href=\"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #2828da;\">Friend of the Sea\u00ae.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0Il programma della World Sustainability Organization (WSO), infatti, ha avviato una nuova partnership con la Fondazione inglese\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT)\" href=\"https:\/\/galapagosconservation.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #2828da;\">Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0per unire le forze nella tutela degli albatross delle Isole Galapagos, arcipelago nell\u2019Oceano Pacifico, di fronte alle coste dell\u2019Ecuador.<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Attraverso il supporto e la donazione che Friend of the Sea\u00ae fornir\u00e0 alla GCT, sar\u00e0 possibile portare a termine un\u2019attivit\u00e0 di classificazione di oggetti di plastica rinvenuti sulle spiagge delle isole Galapagos, e analizzare cos\u00ec le principali minacce per gli albatros oltre che per le altre specie, marine e non, endemiche delle isole.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">L\u2019albatross \u00e8 l\u2019uccello pi\u00f9 grande delle Galapagos, con un&#8217;apertura alare che pu\u00f2 raggiungere i due metri e mezzo. Si nutre principalmente di pesci, calamari e altri invertebrati, spesso scavando vicino ai pescherecci. Non \u00e8 raro vederlo rubare il cibo di altre specie, come ad esempio l\u2019altro uccello marino, la sula.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Le minacce maggiori per la sopravvivenza dell\u2019albatross provengono dall&#8217;uomo, soprattutto dalle attivit\u00e0 di pesca. I pescherecci con palangari stendono centinaia di chilometri di ami con esche che attirano gli uccelli, i quali vengono quindi agganciati e annegano dopo essere stati trascinati a fondo. Sebbene la pesca con palangari sia vietata all&#8217;interno della Riserva marina delle Galapagos, una volta che gli uccelli lasciano quest&#8217;area non hanno alcuna protezione.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Anche l&#8217;inquinamento marino da plastica costituisce uno dei principali rischi per la vita degli albatross, come pure l&#8217;inquinamento delle acque da petrolio e sostanze chimiche. La caccia, per il consumo umano e per le piume, \u00e8 aumentata drasticamente negli ultimi anni.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">La GCT \u00e8 l\u2019unica organizzazione benefica registrata nel Regno Unito che si concentra esclusivamente sulla conservazione delle isole Galapagos, una delle aree ecologicamente pi\u00f9 importanti, ma vulnerabili, del mondo.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">La Fondazione sostiene programmi di conservazione in tutto l&#8217;arcipelago, collaborando con le autorit\u00e0 ecuadoriane, le Organizzazioni non governative, le comunit\u00e0 locali e gli scienziati delle Galapagos e di tutto il mondo.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Grazie alle attivit\u00e0 di raccolta di fondi e sensibilizzazione, la GCT promuove e realizza progetti in grado di rispondere alle principali minacce che incombono sulle isole, concentrandosi sul ripristino degli habitat naturali, sulla conservazione delle specie a rischio e sulla ricerca di soluzioni sostenibili.<\/span> \u00a0 <span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">GCT gestisce anche la rete regionale\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"Pacific Plastics\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificplasticssciencetosolutions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #2828da;\">Pacific Plastics<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #333333;\">che studia soluzioni per affrontare l&#8217;inquinamento da plastica e ridurre i rischi per la fauna selvatica, compresi gli albatros, in tutto il Pacifico orientale.<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span> Fondato nel 2008 da Paolo Bray, Friend of the Sea\u00ae \u00e8 diventato lo standard globale per prodotti, alimentari e non, e servizi che rispettano e tutelano l\u2019oceano e le sue risorse. Da anni Friend of the Sea\u00ae, oltre a portare avanti le proprie iniziative per la tutela di specie a rischio di estinzione, seleziona progetti avviati di conservazione per fornire sostegni e finanziamenti. <span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Con la Galapagos Conservation Trust, nello specifico, Friend of the Sea\u00ae unir\u00e0 le forze per permettere la classificazione di circa duemila oggetti di plastica raccolti manualmente o attraverso droni dalle spiagge della Riserva Marina delle Galapagos.
