comprendono circa 47 specie di piccoli pesci marini. Hanno testa e collo simili a quelli di un cavallo, corpo protetto da placche ossee, coda prensile, senza denti n\u00e9 stomaco. Nuotano generalmente in coppia e si mimetizzano tra le piante sommerse.<\/p><p>Un aspetto unico \u00e8 la gravidanza maschile: sono i maschi, non le femmine, a ricevere le uova in una tasca ventrale (marsupio) e a espellere i piccoli alla schiusa. Questo permette alle femmine di produrre un maggiore numero di uova e riprodursi pi\u00f9 rapidamente. Tra le principali cause vi sono:<\/p><ul style=\"list-style-type: circle; margin-left: 50px;\"><li>cattura legale e illegale per decorazioni, souvenir, acquari e uso nella medicina tradizionale cinese (sono stimati circa 20\u201337\u202fmilioni di cavallucci estratti ogni anno);<\/li><li>catture accidentali (by-catch) durante la pesca di specie commerciali;<\/li><li>sviluppo costiero, inquinamento, deforestazione, scarichi agricoli e urbani che degradano il loro habitat.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section circle;\"><li>Su 46\u201347 specie censite dall&#8217;IUCN, 17 sono considerate minacciate.<\/li><li>La loro distribuzione \u00e8 discontinua, con bassi tassi riproduttivi e lunga cura parentale, il che li rende vulnerabili.<\/li><li>Coprono pi\u00f9 di 130 nazioni, ma in Paesi come Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Filippine, Singapore, Thailandia, India e Vietnam sono particolarmente a rischio.<\/li><li>Molte specie non dispongono di dati sufficienti (\u2248\u202f39\u202f%), mentre il 4,5\u202f% sono in pericolo, e il 27,3\u202f% Protezione e gestione di habitat e risorse<\/strong><br \/>Creazione di aree marine protette per permettere ai cavallucci di muoversi e riprodursi liberamente.<\/p><p><strong>2. Gestione della specie e del commercio<\/strong><br \/>Controllo della cattura e commercio. Le specie <em>Hippocampus<\/em> sono protette da CITES (circa 150 paesi firmatari) e questa normativa va applicata rigorosamente.<br \/>\u00c8 inoltre fondamentale condurre studi su tassonomia, andamento delle popolazioni e habitat.<\/p><p><strong>3.
