These include buying certified products, no longer buying unsustainable products, patronizing certified ocean activities, using sustainable sunscreen and helping take care of beaches. These easy-to-follow recommendations will help keep the ocean clean and sustainable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">&nbsp;\u201c<i>We salute the spirit of World Oceans Day,<\/i>\u201d said&nbsp;<b>Paolo Bray, Director of Friend ofthe Sea<\/b>. \u201c<i>The event creates a wonderful opportunity to raise everyone\u2019s awareness of the ocean and its role in our lives\u2014which should help us all become more aware of the importance of sustainability. The ocean belongs to all of us, and its health will affect us all.<\/i>\u201d World Oceans Day aligns with similar programs like&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oceanunite.org\/30-x-30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">Ocean Unite\u2019s \u201c30&#215;30<\/span><\/a>\u201d initiative, which urges the world to designate 30% of the oceans as protected areas by 2030.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">In general, the goal of the day is to reduce plastic, acidification and acoustic pollution in the ocean, raise awareness and promote sustainable policies. Friend of the Sea\u2019s five specific recommendations are as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">1. Buy only&nbsp;<a title=\"certified sustainable seafood products\" href=\"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/?page_id=11971\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">certified sustainable seafood products<\/span><\/a>, such as those bearing the Friend&nbsp; of the Sea logo. The producers must adhere to strict environmental standards to achieve and maintain certification.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">2.&nbsp;Stop buying unsustainable products, such as&nbsp;<a title=\"shark fins\" href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/urge-just-eat-deliveroo-and-menulog-to-stop-selling-shark-fins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">shark fins<\/span><\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">,<\/span>&nbsp;<a title=\"sea horses\" href=\"http:\/\/chng.it\/RyRPj7vXSQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">sea horses<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a title=\"corals harvested in an unsustainable way\" href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/governments-make-corals-jewels-sustainability-certification-mandatory-to-save-the-corals?recruiter=419177630&amp;utm_source=share_petition&amp;utm_medium=copylink&amp;utm_campaign=share_petition&amp;utm_term=share_petition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">corals harvested in an unsustainable way<\/span><\/a>. Friend of the Sea has launched petitions to protect these species, along with other that are affected by overfishing and bycatch such as&nbsp;<a title=\"albatross\" href=\"http:\/\/chng.it\/dcp5c9QbS2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">albatross<\/span><\/a>,&nbsp;<a title=\"penguins\" href=\"http:\/\/chng.it\/sN8ggd7pgB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">penguins<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a title=\"sea turtles\" href=\"http:\/\/chng.it\/4TgQsm8mY2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">sea turtles<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">3. Pay attention to your carbon footprint and travel the ocean responsibly, patronizing&nbsp;<a title=\"certified programs\" href=\"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/?page_id=11943\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">certified programs<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;such as whale and dolphin watching expeditions certified by Friend of the Sea. The standard sets a maximum number of vessels in the area at any one time.&nbsp; It limits maximum approach speed and distance between the boats and the dolphins. At the same time, it prohibits swimming with the animals and the use of mono-use plastics on board the tour boats.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">4. Use sustainable and ecofriendly UV&nbsp;<a title=\"sunscreen\" href=\"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/?page_id=11975\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">sunscreen<\/span><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">5. Help&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #0001ee;\"><a title=\"take care of the beach\" href=\"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/?page_id=11959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">t<\/a><a title=\"take care of the beach\" href=\"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/?page_id=29081\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ake care of the beach<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;and participate in&nbsp;<a title=\"beach cleaning projects\" href=\"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/?page_id=11959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0001ee;\">beach cleaning projects<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p
