{"id":16135,"date":"2018-03-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stagefos.com\/italian-acipenser-obtains-friend-of-the-sea-certification-for-its-sturgeon\/"},"modified":"2021-08-11T19:38:17","modified_gmt":"2021-08-11T17:38:17","slug":"italian-acipenser-obtains-friend-of-the-sea-certification-for-its-sturgeon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/es\/italian-acipenser-obtains-friend-of-the-sea-certification-for-its-sturgeon\/","title":{"rendered":"Italian Acipenser obtains FoS certification for its sturgeon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Italian Acipenser obtains Friend of the Sea certification for its sturgeon\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/public\/Acipenser.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>16 March 2018<\/em>_Newly acquired Italian company <strong>Acipenser Srl<\/strong> has been found compliant with Fr<strong>iend of the Sea standard<\/strong> for a number of species of <strong>farmed sturgeon<\/strong>: <em>Acipenser baerii, Acipenser gueldenstaedtii, Acipenser naccari and two hybrid species, Acipenser baerii\/Acipenser gueldenstaedtii, and Acipenser naccarii\/Acipenser baerii.<\/em> Caviar products resulting from the breeding are commercialized under <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/royalfoodcaviar.com\/\">Royal Food Caviar<\/a><\/strong> and <strong>Perluga<\/strong> brands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The plant is located in Calvisano, a small town in the province of Brescia in Northern Italy and it consists of a 10 hectares land-based farm with large basins in concrete. Farms reproduce the natural conditions found in sturgeons\u2019 native breeding grounds. The facilities are lined with a layer of river stone pebbles. The typical seasonal fluctuations in temperature and natural light conditions ensure that the sturgeons have a gradual and healthy growth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>According to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.friendofthesea.org\/aquaculture.asp\">Friend of the Sea aquaculture requirements<\/a><\/strong>, birds\u2019 entanglement and fish escapes are prevented by means of appropriate grids with suitable size and texture and a management system in place implies an immediate implementation of corrective action. Farmed species cannot possibly reproduce in the wild and does not represent a danger for the local population.
