The company, certified since 2013, can thus continue to display the Friend of the Sea label on its bulk and consumer-ready products.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Based in Reykjavik, Iceland, LYSI specializes in the production of fully refined fish oils for human consumption commercialized in bulk and products for direct sale to consumers. The company founded in 1938 has established rigorous control and quality systems that, together with research and product development, have turned it into one of the leading producers in the marine lipids sector.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">In line with the efforts to adopt a more sustainable production process, LYSI first applied to the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/friendofthesea.org\/why-friend-of-the-sea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #2828da;\">Friend of the Sea standard<\/span>\u00a0<\/a><span style=\"color: #333333;\">in 2013, effectively achieving certification. Since then, the company has continuously renewed its commitment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Friend of the Sea is the leading international standard for sustainable fish oil, fishmeal, and Omega-3 supplements produced with wild-caught and farmed fish from FOS-approved sources. Friend of the Sea criteria for sustainable nutraceutical products includes well-managed sources of fish oil and fishmeal ingredients, traceability, and social accountability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">LYSI fish oil comes from Iceland\u2019s vibrant fisheries. The company also relies on imported raw materials from FOS-certified suppliers in Europe, South America and North Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica;\">Additionally, the company has established a policy to reduce its environmental impact systematically.
